Summer Blues

Once again I'm fighting the blues. It's not surprising. I'm switching medications again. This time I'm going on an anti-seizure medication which is known to work for bipolar. Which is good. But it does have a fatal allergic reaction acssociated with it, which means a SLOW titrate up. Bummer, I'm actually still taking some of my old medication, but it's not enough. Sigh.

Sock Summit with truly amazing. I learned so much that I can hardly remember it all. But it's there. I did make my first ever sock - a sock mascot actually. And a second one that was toe-up
- my preferred method. I don't know why, but I like the idea of working toe up better. So I began right away on a nice red pair for myself. That was totally userpted by Ari who wanted her's right now. I did promise her she would get some. So right now I'm working on Ari's purple socks.

I learned basic sock making from Betsy McCarthy - she was a wonderful teacher. Very patient and relaxed. Everyone in the class finished sock, even if we were all working at different speeds. She gave me the permission I needed to do what ever I wanted with my socks. It was great. Then I took a class from Joan Schrouder on knee high socks. That was very inspiring. Mostly because of her amazing bavarian socks. I want that class next time. I also took a toe up sock class from Lucy Neatby. She's crazy and wonderful. She also doesn't believe in formula socks. She gave us an amazing number of tips and tricks for knitting socks, and knitting in general, that were really wonderful. Some day perhaps I'll be able to afford her DVDs. I also took an erogonomics class, which was great, but was mostly stuff I already knew. So, oh well.

I bought LOTS AND LOTS of stuff. More than I should have. But boy do I have a nice collection of sock yarn now. And the needles to knit them on. I also had a beader make custom stitch markers for me, which was cool, and picked up a few extra goodies as well. I have to admit, Signature needles are amazing. Which is good since I bought two sets.

So that's the news about the Sock Summit. And for those that are wondering, the rumor is Toronto, and not next year.
